1999-96: Additional Procedures

With the ambitious Ilizarov surgery succeeding, we turned our attention to other procedures. The first being an epiphysiodesis of the left leg to halt the current leg length discrepancy.  The second being a split tibia tendon transfer in hopes of providing additional functionality to my foot and ankle.

Dr. Richard Reynolds - Orthopedic Surgeon - Children's Hospital Los Angeles
From the initial peroneal nerve injury over time I began to develop a varus hind foot. A split tibia anterior tendon transfer was conducted on my the right foot. The operation was initially a success however after many year the varus hind foot has returned.

1996-12-30 - Surgery: Epiphysiodesis of Left Distal Femur and Proximal Tibia
Dr. Richard Reynolds - Orthopedic Surgeon - Children's Hospital Los Angeles

With the growth in my right knee now fully stopped there was an increasing leg length dependency. With bone age scanograms it was estimated that this discrepancy would reach 9 cm unless surgical intervention was take. To address this, on 12/30/96 an epiphysiodesis of the left distal femur and proximal tibia was conducted to halt the growth in the left leg. Happy new year.
