My Condition

Medical records

My medical history can be broken down into five distinct periods.  The titles can be clicked through to view the underlying notes from medical professionals, x-rays, CT Scans, MRIs, etc.

2014 - 2011
Revaluation

With the rejuvenation of my interest, my approach turned from reactive to proactive. I met with the some of the top orthopedic surgeons in California for evaluations. Engaged with the orthotics departments at UCSF and Stanford. Lastly, I've made a concerted effort to explore physical therapy options. The work done on these three fronts has resulted in a dramatic improvement in my functionality.
2010 - 2000
The Lost Decade

I call this "The Lost Decade" because not much happened. I had resigned myself to my condition as it was. I saw professionals only when acute problems arose. Such as brace malfunctions or the occasional injury aggravation. There was a general slow decline in performance of my limb and an increase in pain. At the time I simply chalked this up to an inevitability.
1999 - 1996
Additional Procedures

With the ambitious Ilizarov surgery succeeding, we turned our attention to other procedures. The first being an epiphysiodesis of the left leg to halt the current leg length discrepancy.  The second being a split tibia tendon transfer in hopes of providing additional functionality to my foot and ankle.
1995 - 1994
Ilizarov Procedure

In the ensuing years after the accident, damage to the growth plates in my knee caused a severe valgus deformation coupled with a leg length discrepancy. To address the problem I was one of the first recipients in the US of an Ilizarov surgery. The goal being to correct the valgus deformation, lengthen the limb and prevent future valgus deformation.
1993 - 1989
Accident & Recovery

This initial accident and the resulting three surgeries in the first month to salvage my leg. Immediately followed by 6 months of intensive recovery. Then the monitoring of limb for anticipated complications.
